GDD Onboarding

The group-side counterpart to UNIGE onboarding. Where that page covers the employer — contract, ID card, email, salary — this one covers joining GDD itself: the tools we work in, how to ask for leave and supplies, and the people you will be working with.

Your first weeks at GDD

  • Read through the handbook Ask questions about anything that is unclear, and tell us where it can be improved. New members are the best readers we have — you are the only ones who find out what is missing by needing it.
  • Ask about access to GDD's key tools: Slack, GitHub, Claude, Teams, and the GDD shared calendar.
  • Submit GDD leave requests through this Google form. Once approved by Andrew or Elizabeth, you will receive a confirmation email and the leave will be added to the shared GDD calendar. Your leave entitlement and the official holidays are set by UNIGE — see Leave and holidays.
  • Office supplies: check the ISG supply cabinet first. For anything not stocked there, or for computer-related equipment, talk to Andrew or Elizabeth.
  • Desk Assignment: When you arrive, the desks may be occupied. Feel free to coordinate with team members in the meantime to get an available desk.
  • Remote Work: UNIGE has not given any official guidelines on this matter. Remote work is generally permitted at the GDD whenever possible. However, working in the office is strongly recommended! (May be included in Expectations of GDD members)
  • Meet the members of the team!
