AI for Scientific Writing¶
We believe that writing is a really important part of scientific thinking and learning. AI can be helpful but should be used sparingly!
For GDD scientific writing, the researcher should always write the first draft. AI may help with feedback, proofreading, translation, restructuring, or proposed edits after the researcher has drafted the text, but it is important that the work retains your intended meaning and individual voice. As a reminder, AI is not a co-author of your work and the researcher remains responsible for every sentence.
- Verify claims and citations by reviewing the original sources.
- Do not use generated references without checking them.
- Check proposed wording for unattributed copying as well as factual error.
- Protect confidential drafts and partner information and follow journal and funder disclosure rules.
